Support Mathews-Dickey ‘Jack Buck Celebrity Night’ & Join LaRussa’s National League Championship Dream Team
Jack Buck Celebrity Night “It’s one, two, three strikes your out at the old ballgame!” The Mathews-Dickey Boys’ & Girls’ Club is hosting its 14th Annual “Jack Buck Celebrity Night with the Stars” event at 5:30 p.m., Sunday, July 17, 2005 at the Missouri Athletic Club, 405 Washington Ave.

The 2005 gala gives fans the opportunity to “play” first base or pitcher on St. Louis Cardinals Manager Tony LaRussa’s National League Championship “Dream Team.” Individual tickets are $125 or $200 for parent/child (under age 12), with LaRussa’s Team Coach Player tables of 10 at $1,000 and Team Coach tables at $5,000.

Sherman George, chief of the St. Louis City Fire Department, co-chairs the gala and lead the Fire Department's annual Fill-The-Boot Toll Road effort again on Friday, July 15, 2005 and Saturday, July 16, 2005 outside the Cardinals games at Busch Stadium and across the city.

The 2004 event was filled with all the excitement of the Cardinals pennant chase. Sponsors who signed on for a Team Player table of 10 had the opportunity to pull for their position, and had a picture taken with LaRussa. The honorary co-chairs were WB11, KPLR-TV VP & General Manager Bill Lanesey and St. Louis Post-Dispatch President & Publisher Terry Egger. WB 11, KPLR TV Broadcasters Bob Carpenter and Rick Horton presided over the festivities.

More than 250 sports enthusiasts from across the country attend the delicious dinner gala and high-level silent and live sports/celebrity memorabilia auction. Cardinals Care, the St. Louis Rams, Blues and others, donated auction items. Musical fanfare was performed by Cardinals organist Ernie Hays and Alvin Jett & the Phat noiZ. KTRS’ Dave Schumacher kept bids rising through the roof. Hays was presented the “That’s A Winner Award” by 2003 Award Winner Carole Buck, wife of the late Jack Buck. See Jack Buck Tribute
