Tom Sullivan Inducted Into Saint Louis University Billikens Hall of Fame
ST. LOUIS, October 6, 2004 - Tom Sullivan began playing baseball at Mathews-Dickey in1973 and promptly became ‘obsessed with just hanging around the Club.’ Sullivan, the Club’s vice president of sports and operations, has enjoyed 30+ years as an alumnus and staff member. Sullivan, who once won both ends of a college baseball double header with seventh-inning home runs, was inducted into the St. Louis University Billikens Hall of Fame in January 2000.

Sullivan said it all began when Martin Mathews “ used to hit the ball to me at a local park and suggested that I come to the Club to play Legion Ball.” As is the case with so many Club members, sports was the inroads to a lot of other possibilities.

“Pretty soon I started working at Mathews-Dickey as a junior leader through the Earn & Learn Program,” Sullivan said. “I liked it so much that I would stick around even longer than my work hours to volunteer.” Soon, as a college student, Sullivan was managing the baseball component of Earn & Learn.

After graduating from St. Louis University with a Marketing degree, Sullivan was offered a lucrative job at a prominent area company. “I chose to take the job at Mathews-Dickey, because I wanted to be around the many great leaders and humanitarians, who had influenced my life and countless others.” Sullivan is the former president of the St. Louis Junior Football League and a St. Louis Community Credit Union board member.
