Local Leaders Help Mathews-Dickey Provide ‘Education: Let Your Light Shine’ at “Say Amen” Literacy Banquet
In 2004, World Wide Technology, Inc. Founder & Chairman David Steward, Sr. shined the light on education in his keynote address. The fund-raiser drew more than 600 civic leaders, sports and media personalities.
To demonstrate the ‘Education: Let Your Light Shine’ theme, 11 Mathews-Dickey performed a specially commissioned version of ‘This Little of Mine,’ penned by Club alumnus Jamie ‘King James’ Dennis. KMOX Radio’s Jon Grayson introduced program participants to the tune of the ‘Electric Slide,’ including award presentations by KSDK Reporter Jeff Small, KMOX Radio ‘Total Information AM’ Co-Host Debbie Monterrey and St. Louis Post-Dispatch Sports Editor Larry Starks.
The Collage band performed an electrifying set, with Professional Recording Artist Jamie ‘KP’ Dennis supplying ‘Even A Child’. A recorded version of ‘Amen’ from Mathews-Dickey VP, PR & Special Events Barbara Washington’s new ‘Calvary Lord’ scholarship benefit CD closed out the evening.
Juanester Colbert-Russell, Cote Brilliante Elementary School principal, received the third annual Bill Maritz Award for her contributions to expanding academically enriching opportunities for St. Louis’ youth. Other award winners include: Academic Scholars - Shannon Roper and Jerry Walker; Outstanding CLIP Volunteers - Eileen Jones and Tony Patterson; Outstanding Tutor Volunteers - Michelle Green and Keith Mills; Outstanding Youth Volunteers - Natasha Williams and Michael Hampton II; and Scholar Athletes - Anna Hart-Shelton and Charonn Woods.

The Mathews-Dickey Education Program features Computer Literacy Instruction, career and leadership training components.
