Mathews-Dickey Summer Day Camp
The Mathews-Dickey Summer Day Camp was established more than 20 years ago under the name Earn & Learn. Initiated with a start-up grant from Anheuser-Busch Companies, the program’s objective was to match neighborhood youths with adult role models while the youths earned money as umpires and referees during the summer months.
Today, the eight-week program is more comprehensive and provides opportunities for recreation, education, cultural-awareness, entertainment and job training for more than 1,000 youths throughout the St. Louis-metropolitan area.
- Recreation — Jump rope, softball, corkball, volleyball, swimming, basketball, ping-pong, tennis and soccer.
- Education — Spelling bees, bingo, storytelling and reading.
- Entertainment — Movies, theatrical performances and field trips (educational, athletic and cultural enrichment).
- Training — Business etiquette, personal finances, career development and Club orientation.
Field trips are an exciting part of the Summer Day Camp daily regime. The Club also partners with the University of Missouri — St. Louis to introduce youth to the world of economics.
We are grateful for the St. Louis City Fire Department’s Toll
